Sifton Properties Wins the Mitsubishi Electric Builder of the Year Award!
Sifton Properties built it’s first solar home in London, Ontario in 1978. With a reputation for innovation, Sifton has continued on to build London’s first triple rated home (LEED, ENERGY STAR rated and Green Rated Home) in 2010, the city’s first net-zero home in 2016, and shortly thereafter began development and construction of West 5. Known as the first neighbourhood powered by the sun, West 5 is Canada’s largest net-zero community.
Due to the environmentally friendly design and the innovative nature of the project, Sifton properties was awarded the Mitsubishi Electric Heating and Cooling Sustainable Builder 2020 Award.
Helio is 70% more efficient than a comparable high-rise building built under the Ontario Building code. This is a first for Canada: an apartment building designed to target net-zero energy. Sifton’s West 5 development will be the largest net-zero community in Canada, housing over 2000 units comprised of townhomes, condos, and rental apartments, alongside 150,000 square feet of commercial and retail space created to serve residents with a walkable and connected community.
